Welcome to the Holmdel Troop 131 Website!

On this our official Troop 131 website you'll find information about meetings, recent trips, pictures, schedules, and much more!  Interested in being a scout?  Come to one of our meetings for info and start your own adventure with our National Outdoor Challenge Award winning troop!

We meet on live 7:30 PM to 8:45 PM Tuesday nights at Indian Hill School in Holmdel NJ.  We hope to see you there!

April trip to National Constitution Center in Philadelphia

Troop 131 joined other scouts for Scout Day at the National Constitution center in Philadelphia.  The troop was able to tour the facility, learn about American history and had the opportunity to earn several merit badges- although the highlight of the trip may have been the cheesesteaks we were able to enjoy!

Coast Guard training center visit

In June, the troop was invited to spend the weekend at the Cape May Coast Guard training center.  The weather cooperated with a fantastic weekend where the Scouts were able to tour the facility including being able to board and explore the 100' Coast Guard Cutter which protects the eastern seaboard.  The scouts were also able to interact with other site departments including demonstrations of the fire house and vehicles.  Of course- no trip to south Jersey would be complete without a trip to the beach and the wildwood boardwalk!  

Civil War Camporee

In May, the troop participated in a civil war camporee which included a Civil War  firing demonstration will be demonstrated by Civil War reenactors at the rifle range, a hands-on Civil War “School of the Soldier” drilling activity on the parade ground,  Civil War era games on the parade ground where participants were nineteenth century games and compete with other Scouting units for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons, Cooking station demonstrate how food was prepared and cooked during the war, An overview of how women helped the war effort as camp followers and spies, an exhibit of Civil War artillery and a discussions on how the Civil War impacted the state of NJ.  Troop 131 earned a first and 2nd place awards for events during the weekend! 

March 2024 Campout

In March the troop attended the Alpine NJ scout camp Cook-O-Ree. The scouts started the day with various hands-on cooking classes, where scouts learned how to prepare a variety of different meals, while also learning food safety, nutrition, knife skills, etc. After the classes, our scouts were able to apply their new skills while competing in a camp wide iron-chef style cook-off and other food related competitions.
